CRICKET
Recreational Surfacing Pty Ltd has a number of different quality synthetic grass cricket wickets. This product Pacific Grass we have used for the past years with excellent results.
Pacific Grass we believe is the ultimate synthetic cricket wicket. Many aspects were taken into account in the development of this excellent product. The bounce had to be regular so as not to jeopardise the batsman. The wicket must also be able to respond readily to bowlers – both pace and spin.
Apart from the playing advantages the surface must also be able to withstand the rigours of the game itself and not be affected by the breakdown of the polypropylene pile due to ultra violet degradation. With all of the abovementioned points in mind Pacific Grass was designed.
The Department of Sport and Recreation some 19 years ago laid 8 different cricket wickets at Narrabeen Fitness Centre. All wickets were scrutinised and we are proud to announce that Pacific Grass was chosen above all the other products for the resurfacing of these 8 cricket wickets in July 1986. Although patches were inserted at the bat/grass contact area – these wickets are still in excellent condition.
This quotation allows for –
a) The area applicable shall be thoroughly swept and if necessary washed with mild acid to remove all dirt and debris.
b) Specially formulated indoor/outdoor synthetic grass adhesive shall be trowelled over the entire area leaving grooves of 3mm over the area in the adhesive.
c) Pacific Grass shall be rolled out over the area. Particular care shall be taken to adhere all synthetic grass to the area leaving no area unadhered and susceptible to air pockets forming. We have allowed Pacific Shield for this resurfacing.
We also construct from scratch the entire wicket or practise wickets.

HOCKEY/SOCCER FIELDS
Pacific Grass is an excellent surface for hockey/soccer fields
Pacific Grass is a 100% polypropylene fibre tufted into a polypropylene woven heat set ultraviolet stabilised backing. This backing is then coated with a styrene butadine rubber latex. Pacific Grass insures a cool glare free surface which minimises leg fatigue yet still allows consistent ball bounce.
A number of large Australian company’s have come together in the manufacture of this product including ICI Plastics Pty Ltd one of the worlds biggest chemical companies that produces the virgin polypropylene granules. Ciba Chemicals and Grass Manufacturers Pty Ltd extrude the polypropylene granules and add the colorants and ultraviolet stabilisers. Mattex International Group is one of the world’s fastest growing textile polyolefin converting companies supplies the woven polypropylene for the primary backing. Rubber Latex Pty Ltd provides the butadiene rubber for the secondary backing.
With the support of these large companies Pacific Grass is manufactured. The principals of this company have had over 27 years experience in synthetic grass tennis courts. Our laying of the synthetic grass has been fine tuned over these 27 years to a stage where long warranties can be very confidently offered.
Pacific Grass is laid in 3.66 metre strips (12 foot strips). The longitudinal lines are actually tufted into the Pacific Grass which cuts down dramatically on the number of seams incurred on tennis court installation.
Specially graded and washed silica sand from a quarry in Newcastle is broomed into the pile. This sand is specially rounded and graded to ensure that it is non abrasive and does not “powder”. Approximately 14 tonnes of sand shall be utilised.
